To date, the results of the FRESH START-21 Program have
been very good. Six months out from their original
treatments, and having undergone the 21-day follow-up
program, 80% have reported not having another
cigarette. Admittedly, this data does not yet reflect
truly long term results, but it is very encouraging.
However, it should be noted that other laser treatment
centers do not include any follow-up support, unless the
client takes the initiative to call the center. This is
what distinguishes the FRESH START-21 approach from
other providers; a 21-day support program and guide for
those difficult days that follow the initial laser
treatments, and the opportunity for even better results!
A
research study was conducted in Middlesex University
regarding laser treatment to stop smoking. They studied
340 smokers who were given this laser treatment three
times, four times, or did not have the procedure at all.
The participants
in this study were followed for 3 months, and it
indicated
all those who had received 4 treatments were not smoking.
Approximately half of those who had 3 treatments had
also stopped, and of those who did not completely stop
many had reduced the number of cigarettes that they
smoked. Researchers found that those who did return to
smoking reported it was at times of significant stress.
Participants also reported feeling better and sleeping
better after the laser treatments. Not one of the
participants gained weight and some lost weight after
stopping smoking. This treatment has been used for more
than 30 years in Canada and Europe. It is only
available in the United States as a research procedure,
since it is not FDA approved. It should be noted,
however, that laser therapy is approved for pain
management, and nicotine withdrawal is a sometimes
painful process to endure for some.
Companies such as Haliburton, Brown & Root, Mobil, Asco,
PSL Group, Baker Hughes Inteq and Tait Paper Mills
recently invited their staff to undergo laser therapy
treatment, and over 60% of Tait Paper Mills employees
were successful in stopping smoking.
Current medical reports indicate that endorphin levels
are considerably higher in smokers than in non-smokers.
Stopping smoking results in a sudden drop in endorphin
levels leading to withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
laser therapy helps to balance endorphin levels, thus
helping to control the addiction and pacify the
cravings. Results using laser therapy are far more
effective than nicotine patches, which has a success
rate of only 12%.
